# Journal Entry 13

Yesterday Madam Lim told the whole class about The Frog's Story. There are three frogs who want to climb this one big wall. One of the frogs is blind and deaf, the rest are able to see and speak. The blind and deaf frog has no idea that the wall that he is about to climb is quite high. The other two frogs have given up on the wall because others have told them to stop climbing because the wall is extremely high. That leaves the blind and deaf frog to continue climbing. With his determination, he finally succeed to reach at the very top of the wall.

The other frogs ask him (prior to his deafness condition, I wonder how the other frogs ask him), how does he manage to reach the top. And the blind and deaf frog simply says that due to his condition, he cannot see the wall nor he can hear what others have been telling him. All he has in his head is to reach at the top of the wall without listening to others and seeing the wall as an obstacle.

What do I learn from Madam Lim's story?

In my case, I have heard quite a number of my friends telling me that teaching profession is not their cup of tea. And yes, that is including me as well. Furthermore, the same cliques would approach me every semester and telling me the same thing.

All this while, we have been complaining that we have zero interest in teaching and that being teachers are not as glamorous as being fashion designers or magazine editors, to the extent we forget that we have not tried teaching in the authentic surrounding yet. How can we complain on certain things that we even have not tried them out yet?

A reminder to all of us (as quoted from Madam Lim):


Teaching could be stressful. But it never gets boring. Teaching is fun. And it is a fun experience.


I am teaching myself to accept things the way they are. And that I would try my very best to do my practicum next semester so that I won't merely teach my future students wishy-washily.

Oh by the way, today's presentation was on Chapter 5, presented by Safa, Jessica and Diedre.
